When the venerable candy maker was ready to update its image, Fanny Farmer Candy Stores turned to Richard M. Cole & Associates to marry its old-fashioned values with a more modern aesthetic. Customer focus groups made clear that the once dingy shops should be traditional, warm and inviting, yet appealing to younger and value-oriented shoppers. RMC&A's prototype combined traditional materials and elements - arches, multi-paned and etched glass, custom cabinetry and white-stained maple wood - with bright color accents and a fully integrated sign system that has sweetened the shopping experience at 35 stores nationally.
